Portable accommodation provides a new home for St. Jerome?s Pre-school in Formby

When rain started to leak through the roof of St. Jerome?s Pre-school in Formby the Trustees decided that it was time to replace the ageing building that had housed the playgroup for 30 years.
The building and land are owned by the Archdiocese of Liverpool and with the support of the Parish Priest, Rev Mgr John Walsh, permission was sought to build a new facility on the site of the old building.? Additional finance was secured and Portable Offices was commissioned with a ?turn-key? project to design and build the new facility.

St. Jerome?s Pre-school Playgroup is a registered charity whose surplus funds are ploughed back into better facilities for the children.? Although the Playgroup had over the years saved its surplus, it was not enough to pay for a new building.

However, they were successful in obtaining a loan, backed by the Government?s Funding for Lending scheme and the Enterprise Finance Guarantee.? This, together with the saved surplus, was sufficient to buy new equipment and a state-of-the-art modular prefabricated building, designed and installed by Portable Offices on land at St. Jerome?s Formby.

The Portable Offices? team rose to the challenge and the new three bay facility was completed on time and budget on the 23rd August 2013 ready for the new Autumn ?term.

Fifty-five children aged between two and four currently attend the pre-school, which was established in 2007. ?The new facility will enable the playgroup to expand and to offer an after-school club. ??Future plans also include the possibility of a programme of summer activities for children.

Mike McLachlan, a member of the board of trustees, said: ?We were very impressed with the operational side of the installation. It was a seamless process. John Lutkevitch, the on-site project manager, was excellent and Chris Hanson provided outstanding strategic direction.

?The new building is warm, bright, light and airy and is ideal for our needs. There has been a real buzz amongst parents, children and staff thanks to the new accommodation.?
