Walking, Talking, and Taking Time for Ourselves… Our Stress Awareness Month Round-Up

This April, we embraced Stress Awareness Month as a chance to do something meaningful for our well-being together.

Across the business, our teams got involved in simple, uplifting activities that encouraged everyone to slow down, move more, and talk openly about mental health. It wasn’t about grand gestures… it was about little moments that made a big difference.

Flowers, Fun and Fresh Air

From the start, there was a buzz of positivity. Fresh flowers brightened our offices and canteens (and have become a new regular feature thanks to how much everyone loved them). Lunchtime walks became a daily habit, fruit platters appeared on desks, and a few friendly competitions brought plenty of smiles.

We even welcomed “Baxter” the bunny as part of a “Guess the Bunny’s Name” challenge, won by Rhian, plus Sandycroft’s Easter Egg Hunt brought out everyone’s competitive streak in the best way.

Moving for a Meaningful Cause

One of the highlights was the 20-mile challenge in support of Breast Cancer Now. Our teams found their own ways to get involved:

  • Sophie climbed Snowdon, starting in the dark at 4am before reaching the highest summit in England & Wales.
  • Becky & Michelle clocked up her miles, finishing off the challenge with a walk together.
  • Bob took on the distance by bike – using cycling as a way to support both physical and mental health.
  • The Bristol team tallied up lunchtime runs and walks across the whole month.
  • Even Rosie dragged Adrian up some fells and back to the beach in the sunshine.

More Than Just One Month

Throughout our depots, the activities brought a noticeable lift in morale. From charity raffles and badge sales to the simple power of nature and movement, April showed how small actions can make a workplace feel that bit warmer, more connected and more human.

And it’s not ending here. Each depot is already looking at new ways to get involved this month, inspired by everything that’s been achieved throughout April.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined in – whether you walked, donated, planted flowers, or simply took a moment to check in with a colleague.
