Luton Depot Steals the Scene with Film, TV and Big Wins for 2025

While you might not immediately associate portable buildings with showbiz glamour, Luton Depot has firmly earned its place behind the scenes of some of the UK’s biggest productions. As the UK film and TV industry continues to thrive, the Luton team is right there in the thick of it – delivering comfort, convenience, and high-quality support spaces for stars, crews and creatives alike.

From the Small Screen to the Silver Screen

It’s been over a decade since Luton Depot first stepped onto the film and TV set, and their presence has only grown. Positioned perfectly for access to some of the UK’s busiest studios, the team has become a trusted partner for a wide range of productions.

2024 marked the 20th anniversary of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing – and also the 10th year Portable Offices has supplied facilities to the show’s celebrities, dancers and behind-the-scenes crew.

Meanwhile, Matt Calloway, known internally as our resident film buff, continues to lead many of these projects. Whether it’s working alongside set builders, fitting out a dressing room, or setting up a screening space, Matt has found himself brushing shoulders with movie-makers – and sometimes even catching a glimpse of a star or two.

Recent productions supported by the Luton team include:
🎬 A film project in Hoddesdon, featuring double-storey stacks and a 20ft unit
📽️ A screening room and staff support spaces for a major blockbuster at Shinfield Studios

A Stylish First with the Signature Collection

Luton also became one of the first depots to deliver a building from our new Signature Collection – Portable Offices’ premium range designed for clients looking for something a little more high-end.

The sleek, contemporary unit was used as a green room space for a live reality TV show, creating a calm, stylish area for hosts and talent.

Matt commented:
“The client was after something upmarket with a clean, modern feel – something that matched the tone of the show. The Signature Collection hit the mark perfectly. We’ve built a great relationship with this production company over the last two years, and this felt like a natural next step.”

Beyond the Cameras

It’s not just film and TV keeping the team busy. Luton Depot has been delivering right across the board, with recent highlights including:

Celebrating Progress Behind the Scenes

While the depot is buzzing with external projects, the real stars are often found in the yard. Huge congratulations go to Jermaine, Chetan, and Marcin, who have all achieved their NVQ Level 2 qualifications – a brilliant achievement that reflects their dedication and pride in their work.

Depot Manager Luke Foster-Poole shared:
“Our team continues to go above and beyond – whether they’re supporting a blockbuster or turning around a high-spec marketing suite. I’m incredibly proud of Jermaine, Chetan and Marcin for achieving their NVQs. Their work ethic and willingness to keep developing is a real credit to the depot.”
