New mobile school club builds on success

Children from Sanford Hill Primary School in Stoke-on-Trent have benefited from a new before and after school club constructed in the school playground.

Now, pupils aged between 3 and 11 years old have a safe and invigorating environment in which to spend quality time engaging in leisure pursuits and games before and after school and during the holidays.

The Kidzone After School Club was established as a stand alone portable building provided by Portable Offices who assisted, manager, Joanne Mullin through all stages of development from planning and ground works right through to a speedy construction.

The company also fitted out the tuition area and toilets, ultimately providing a bright, warm and inviting main classroom with quiet corner for those pupils looking to develop their reading skills.

Owner Manager Joanne Mullins was provided with a capital grant by the local authority who immediately recognised the vital role that the club would provide for those children in need of a nurturing environment to visit before and after school and in the holidays.

Joanne commented: “Initially, some of the parents expressed some reservations about the prospect of portable accommodation, no doubt imagining a scruffy, damp cabin.  The reality is miles away from this outdated perception.  Instead, the building is quite state-of-the-art and provides a clean, warm bright environment which encourages the children’s creativity.”

Portable Offices’ Business Development Manager, Dean Dixon, managed the project, providing a turnkey solution for the club covering planning liaison, foundations, drainage, services, logistics, construction and fitting out of all internal fixtures and fittings right down to final building inspection and completion certificates.

Dean commented: “We are accustomed to working alongside our clients and endeavour to make any project effortless and minimise hassle.”

An over-riding concern of the nursery was the need for a speedy construction to take place during the holiday period.

Joanne was full of praise for Portable Offices: “We really couldn’t fault them. They worked with us and alongside the planning office, overcoming any challenges. We were really impressed with the product and the service.”
