Following a fire in August 2016, The Academy Selsey suffered extensive damage and much of its contents was destroyed which resulted in the school’s 453 pupils being displaced and having to be taught at four locations in the Selsey area.
A massive portable village was required to provide an ‘instant school’ on the school’s athletics track.
As well as classrooms, the temporary buildings needed to house science labs, workshops and food technology areas. Portable Offices responded immediately to the school’s challenge and using portable buildings, some of which had previously been used to house staff and students from Bohunt School in Worthing while building work was carried out, the company set about establishing a temporary school within an incredible six week time frame.
Now, a massive capital expenditure project has resulted in a new build state-of-the-art education centre and the portable buildings will be returning to Portable Offices and will be available for hire or purchase.

This striking range of temporary buildings – 10.0m x 15m (330msq) previously provided a double-storey modular classroom suite, comprising: hall, kitchen and dining hall, interactive library, IT suites, four teaching rooms 60m2 c/w storerooms, working science labs, technology workshop, ICT suite and washroom facilities. There’s an internal staircase, increased ceiling height, Protec 6000 fire alarm, LED lighting with sensors and climate control heating/cooling to classrooms even hard wearing carpet tiles.
The buildings can easily be reconfigured to adapt to your needs.
Manufactured in 2015 to Building Regulations, the striking buildings combine functionality with sublimely clean detailing which is maintenance free thanks to a plastisol steel exterior. Inside, a contemporary feel has been created with bright wall finishes and UPVC double glazed windows to allow for plenty of natural light.
