Summer in the City

Half way through 2013 and the earlier promise of an exciting year is already coming to fruition at Luton Depot near London with some high profile customers satisfactorily installed in their new modular buildings and cabins.

A new production suite for BBC daytime television at Elstree Studios just outside London, is now complete enabling production to continue uninterrupted within a hired modular building which serves as a fully integrated production suite for the channels’ growing range of game shows.

The hired cabins and modular building were chosen for their flexibility and ability to adapt to the BBC’s evolving and ever-changing production needs. Speed of installation was a further priority which was achieved once again by Luton Depot.

Manager Neil Christie, commented: “We completed a speedy installation and rose to the contract challenges which included the erection of one cabin between two existing buildings.”

The education sector has continued its growth pattern and here Luton provided an education building for Downsbrook School in Worthing and further cabins for Darlingshurst School in Southend where additional classrooms were required to accommodate primary school children.

A high profile first has been achieved by the depot in the provision of a large modular building to accommodate an Explore Learning Centre for one of Sainsbury’s flagship stores at Woking where the store refurbishment necessitated the provision of a temporary building for customers’ children.

The modular building incorporates a high IT specification with electric power points, disabled toilet and features the first steel ramp with concrete treads to be rolled out by Portable Offices.

The depot has scored another success for Brentford Football Club. Following an order last year to provide new facilities for the Club’s youth team, an additional order has been received this year for further buildings.

The second phase of buildings, provided by Portable Offices, were a prime requirement to enable the club to enhance facilities for a level 2 academy of young players aged under 18 to the criteria specified by the Premiership.

The Luton team continues to be exceptionally busy priding itself on its high levels of customer satisfaction, value for money and high quality product. With repeat business and new clients at an all time high, the team is continuing to enjoy a period of unsurpassed growth. This is resulting in new opportunities for the depot team and additional employment possibilities.
