Portable Offices goes barking mad for Husky Rescue

Portable Offices in Bristol – one of the UK’s leading producers of modular and portable buildings – is sponsoring Sibes & Sled Dogs, a national Husky and Malamute rehoming charity.

The company has provided recycled wood to enable the building of a ‘Rainbow Bridge’ memorial at the charity’s new off-lead and trail running track in Lancashire and now a further cash injection will go towards funding a launch event at the new trail and off-lead enclosure at Barrowford in Lancashire on Saturday September 5th.

Russell Hansford, yard foreman at Portable Office’s Bristol depot who lives in the Forest of Dean, is a keen Husky owner and is starting to race his six dogs in competitions around the UK.

As a strong supporter of the charity, from which he has rehomed several rescue dogs, he was the linchpin of the firm’s involvement in the initiative.  He said: “Huskies and Malamutes are unfortunately suffering from people’s lack of awareness of their special needs; they need a lot of exercise, have a high prey drive and moult a great deal.  They can make amazing pets, but they do have very special needs and potential owners should research the breed thoroughly before taking one on.”

Russell will be using a three wheel rig for the dryland races his team will take part in and the new enclosure and trail track in Lancashire will be ideal for testing the team’s mettle.

He said: “Huskies are not a breed that you can run off-lead so the new enclosure and adjacent trail that Sibes and Sled Dogs have created in Lancashire is a real bonus to Husky owners from across the country.”

The new facilities have been established on redundant council ground which charity volunteers have cleared and landscaped.  One of the main features – the Rainbow Bridge memorial in memory of the charity’s dogs who are no longer around to enjoy the new facilities – will provide a peaceful place of reflection for owners mourning the loss of their pets.

Managing director of Portable Offices, Adrian Witty, comments: “We are pleased to have contributed to such a worthwhile cause and hope that the new facilities will bring joy to dogs and their owners.”
