New mobile school club builds on success

Posted on by Portable Offices

Children from Sanford Hill Primary School in Stoke-on-Trent have benefited from a new before and after school club constructed in the school playground.

Now, pupils aged between 3 and 11 years old have a safe and invigorating environment in which to spend quality time engaging in leisure pursuits and games before and after school and during the holidays.

The Kidzone After School Club was established as a stand alone portable building provided by Portable Offices who assisted, manager, Joanne Mullin through all stages of development from planning and ground works right through to a speedy construction.

The company also fitted out the tuition area and toilets, ultimately providing a bright, warm and inviting main classroom with quiet corner for those pupils looking to develop their reading skills.

Owner Manager Joanne Mullins was provided with a capital grant by the local authority who immediately recognised the vital role that the club would provide for those children in need of a nurturing environment to visit before and after school and in the holidays.

Joanne commented: “Initially, some of the parents expressed some reservations about the prospect of portable accommodation, no doubt imagining a scruffy, damp cabin.  The reality is miles away from this outdated perception.  Instead, the building is quite state-of-the-art and provides a clean, warm bright environment which encourages the children’s creativity.”

Portable Offices’ Business Development Manager, Dean Dixon, managed the project, providing a turnkey solution for the club covering planning liaison, foundations, drainage, services, logistics, construction and fitting out of all internal fixtures and fittings right down to final building inspection and completion certificates.

Dean commented: “We are accustomed to working alongside our clients and endeavour to make any project effortless and minimise hassle.”

An over-riding concern of the nursery was the need for a speedy construction to take place during the holiday period.

Joanne was full of praise for Portable Offices: “We really couldn’t fault them. They worked with us and alongside the planning office, overcoming any challenges. We were really impressed with the product and the service.”

Modular Building - Rainbow Day Nursery

A new wing was established within just a few weeks adjacent to the existing nursery building.  The modular accommodation provides an additional three areas to provide a playgroup during the day and a before and after school club outside normal school hours for around 50 children.

At the time of the build, Rainbow Day Nursery leased the land and a prime requirement was the need for flexible accommodation that could be updated to meet the nursery’s growing demands.

Portable Offices’ National Sales Manager, Ian Smith, managed the project, providing full assistance for the nursery covering planning liaison, foundations, drainage & services and the single-storey building was quickly erected and the contract was completed within just 4 weeks.

Alison Sumner, Owner Manager commented: “There is a great deal of competition in the portable accommodation market at present so we were delighted when Portable Offices not only provided an excellent, cost-effective solution to our expansion needs but also provided a free upgrade on our existing building.

“We currently rent the buildings and opted for a modular approach because it was the most speedy and cost-effective building option although I certainly don’t feel as though it is a compromise at all. We have places for up to 50 children and the areas are inviting, warm, bright and welcoming.”

Customer Review – Plas Isaf – Portable Offices

Posted on by Portable Offices

Establishing premises for a holiday let business and smallholding in an area of outstanding natural beauty in Snowdonia National Park is fraught with planning and financial issues.  For Alison Parry and her partner, the need for a secure, weather-proof workshop to house tools and washing machines became an over-riding priority.  With all available funds directed towards renovation of their home and nothing left over to refurbish the outbuildings, they took the decision to purchase a portable cabin for placement inside the dilapidated barn.

Alison contacted Portable Offices who found her an affordable, ‘pre-loved’ cabin.

Alison was overwhelmed and delighted by the service she received from the company: “The team understood my needs and circumstances completely and found me the ideal cabin.  They were absolutely fantastic. Totally brilliant to work with.

“I thought I might have been overlooked as I was just purchasing a relatively small item in their eyes, but they treated me like their best customer.  Nothing was too much trouble – they put the service back into customer service. It was refreshing in this day and age to find a company that did what they said they would do.”
