Bristol Office Reaches for the Stars!

Bristol office has reached new heights – literally – as the depot provides a suite of offices to KISPE – a new satellite launch systems company based at Newquay Airport in Cornwall.

Kernow Sat 1 could be launched from Cornwall Newquay Airport within the next 12 to 18 months with a view to carrying out earth science such as measuring ocean plastic pollution or mapping tree planting and deforestation or coastal erosion.

It will involve a 747 jet provided by Virgin Orbit carrying a satellite to the edge of space and launching it into orbit.

Data from Kernow Sat 1 would be used to tackle local environmental issues and be held as an exemplar for best practice for other parts of the UK, Europe and the world, while fostering a space industry in Cornwall, around Newquay’s Aerohub and Goonhilly Earth Station on the Lizard.

The offices which have glazed units facing the runway will accommodate staff and member of the press visiting the airport for the launch.

Customer Account Manager, Sales, Alex Fitzgerald, handled the enquiry and contract. He said: “We had just four weeks from order to installation. Sandycroft and Derby rallied round to assist us in fulfilling the contract.”

Alex also celebrated his first modular building contract which has just been installed at Duchy Plant Hire for their new site in Cornwall.

Back at base, Manager Kate Kirk, implemented forklift training for the yard team. She commented: “We now have a fully trained and qualified yard team, including Jacasta who is our first female forklift operator.

“Blair who started back in the autumn will be increasing her work days from two to three in the new year and is achieving considerable success in her new operations role.

“We have remained very busy throughout the winter and in January we have two luxury marketing suites being delivered fresh from the factory for Curo Enterprises, complete with seasonal decals!”
