Derby Depot Scores Again but this time with Ipswich Town

Business News | Derby Depot | July 2024

The Derby Team has been on a winning streak, delivering top-notch modular solutions to some of the UK’s most prominent clients. With Euro fever sweeping the nation, the team kept football front and center, most recently scoring a significant contract with Ipswich Town Football Club.

New Modular Buildings for Ipswich Town FC

Derby Depot was tasked with providing a two-bay modular building, complete with a linked cabin, for Ipswich Town Football Club. These state-of-the-art facilities will serve as both classroom and office space at the club’s training ground, ensuring that the team has the best environment to support their development both on and off the pitch.

Supporting Women’s Football at Stoke City FC

The football focus didn’t stop there. Derby Depot was back at Stoke City Football Club, this time providing new changing facilities for the women’s academy. This project follows closely on the heels of Derby’s recent provision of a welfare cabin, complete with a canteen, kitchen, and toilets, for the club’s training ground. These contributions highlight our commitment to supporting football at all levels.

A Busy Start to the Financial Year

The new financial year has kicked off with a bang for Derby Depot, with a steady flow of contracts from both new and returning clients. Bob Davies, Portable Offices’ Depot Manager, remarked, “We have really hit the ground running this spring with contracts coming in thick and fast from all sectors.”

Innovative Solutions for Education and Industry

Among the standout projects was a five-bay modular and cabin for a rural activities centre in Staffordshire. This facility, which provides outdoor education for adults with learning challenges, features an external façade clad in larch. The new accommodation offers modern classrooms and offices for students and teachers, blending functionality with a natural aesthetic.

In addition, a three-bay modular building is on its way to a car hire company, while office and canteen facilities have been provided to a plastics manufacturer. The demand for our portable buildings continues to rise, reflecting their cost-efficient and flexible solutions for business expansion.

Diverse Projects from Agriculture to Film Studios

Derby Depot’s versatility was on full display when we supplied a portable unit to a Warwickshire farmer who has successfully diversified into a global reclaimed and antiques business. The portable unit, set up within a large barn, now serves as an office, adding to a space that also functions as a film studio for AI and military action shots. This project showcases how portable buildings can adapt to meet the unique needs of any business.

Team Updates and New Equipment

We’re also excited to welcome Andrew McKechnie as our new Yard Foreman. Andrew brings extensive construction and logistics knowledge to the team, which will be invaluable as we continue to grow.

Our drivers, Dave and Steve, are equally thrilled with the arrival of a brand new Volvo Globetrotter rigid truck equipped with a 70.5T crane. Bob Davies commented, “Having the ultimate equipment will undoubtedly provide us with an edge when it comes to getting materials to site and off-loading efficiently.”

Looking Forward

With a busy schedule and more exciting projects on the horizon, the Derby Depot team is poised for continued success.
