RS Components extend its security and staff locker room facilities

We were impressed with the build quality and finish of the building, both externally and internally and felt that Portable Offices had understood our requirement for an essentially practical building, but one that would not look out of place aesthetically on our premises.

Modular Building installed for RS components

Over the next 1-2 months we interviewed other potential suppliers and developed a detailed specification, culminating in an invitation to tender process. Portable Offices were awarded the contract to supply and install the building, based on a competitive tender, supported by a strong presentation of their offer.

From the outset we had a strong feeling of confidence that they fully understood our needs and that they had the expertise and experience to deliver a complex project within tight timescales. We were particularly interested to see how they would propose working with a number of our own appointed sub-contractors (sprinklers, fire alarms, security cameras etc.). Again, we felt confident that they could deliver on this.

As our dealings with the company progressed, this level of confidence was reinforced. They kept us fully briefed on developments and proved to be highly professional in all their communications with us.

Security Entrance

We chose to run the installation contract under CDM regulations and were pleased to appoint Portable Offices as Principal Contractor. In this role they managed all health & safety aspects of the project, supervising both their own and our appointed contractors.

The level of preparation and attention to detail had been impressive – and once the building components were ready to be delivered to site their expertise at the implementation stage was very much in evidence.

A complex schedule, involving the delivery and craning into place of 5 separate building bays, was carried out in a single day during normal working hours. Careful planning in conjunction with our own management team ensured this was done in an extremely safe manner, with minimal disruption to our operation.

The rest of the building and fit out programme was done efficiently and within a very challenging timescale. During this period we also had 6 of our own appointed sub-contractors on site at various times, installing additional services such as sprinklers and security cameras. This could have led to problems, for example contractors getting in each other’s way. However, due to careful advance planning between RS and Portable Offices – and most importantly, excellent management by Portable Offices’ on site project manager – all contractors worked very well together.

Lockers

As with all projects of this size, there were a few unexpected events and the occasional problem during installation. What was most impressive was the willingness of the project manager to resolve any issues in a calm and confident manner.

The end result is a building not only fit for purpose, but one that complements the high build and finish quality of the existing building.

In conclusion we were very pleased with the service provided by Portable Offices and would have no hesitation in using them again or recommending them to others.
