At Derby office it is business as usual, despite the Covid-19 lockdown – many of the office team are working effectively from home and a skeleton staff continue to man the yard and office.

The operation has introduced a raft of new measures to keep customers and clients safe during the pandemic – social distancing has been facilitated by changing working practices, such as staggered break times for the yard staff, provided PPE, introduced hand sanitising stations, carried out tool box safety and hygiene regimes for pertinent workers.

The office team working from home have a state-of-the-art IT and new phone system with video conferencing ensuring regular contact and as a means to reduce the need for visits between the depots. All depots have a daily video conference to catch up with each other.

Portable Offices’ Operations Manager, Bob Davies, commented:
“We are open and continue to work effectively following the introduction of our lockdown measures. Through this we are able to help other businesses to operate through the provision of additional flexible spaces.

“We had prepared our stock levels ahead of the virus lockdown and have many units at ‘ready’ status. We have been at the forefront of the coronavirus battle preparing units for testing stations, additional laboratory spaces and stand-alone consulting rooms for doctors. We have also supplied a great many cabins to food producers who need facilitate social distancing for their workers.

“As businesses start to prepare to reinstate their employees, we are able to provide units on a ‘next day’ hire or sale basis for organisations who need to incorporate spaces for new washrooms, offices, canteens or general workspaces to keep operating safely within the new post-lockdown situation.”

Portable units will be key to many businesses’ ability to bounce back after the lockdown.

Bob Davies concluded: “We have recently taken delivery of another vehicle which allows us to keep the transport in-house wherever possible and provide a better experience for our customers.”
